Privacy Policy

The Consortium privacy policy applies when you interact with us or use services we offer to customers in the United States. This page was updated May 17, 2023 

We collect information you provide to us, about your use of our products and services and about your interactions with us. We also collect information about how our network and your devices are working on our network. The types of information we collect depends on your use of our products and services and the ways that you interact with us. This may include information about:

  • Contact, billing and other information you provide when you sign up for a service plan
  • How you use our services and our devices
  • How you use our website and apps
  • How our network and your devices are working
  • Location of your service
  • We collect cookies when you visit our website


This includes: 

  • Credit card, debit card, mobile phone number, email address, bank account information that you provide 
  • Demographic and interest data as well as device type, city and state information from third party data providers
  • Information from social media platforms when you interact with us via social media or use your social media to interact with us. 
  • Fraud information 
  • Web hosting service through GoDaddy using Advanced Tracking, a tool that collects aggregated, anonymized data and is separate from any individual behavior. GoDaddy also uses this data to improve our site’s performance, such as page loading speed.


We use information to provide you with services and enhance your experiences with us. This includes delivering and maintaining your equipment, communicating about our products, services, and your account and billing records; developing new products and services; personalizing your experiences.

  • Establish and maintain your account and billing records. 
  • Communicate service updates via cell phone, home phone, email or mail
  • Provide account related services and information
  • Help you with service and technical support issues or questions 
  • Manage and protect our networks, services, employees and users
  • Detect and prevent fraud 
  • Authenticate you
  • We use cookies to analyze website traffic and optimize your website experience. Cookie data that is collected will be aggregated with all other user data. 


  • We share information about you within our company. 
  • We use vendors to help us offer, provide, repair, restore and bill for services. We share information with them as necessary for them to perform work for us. They are required to protect information they receive from us or collect on our behalf and use it only for the purpose we allow.
  • We may disclose your information in other specific situations: a) to comply with the law; b) to protect you, others or us; c) when needed by outside auditors and regulators; c) with you consent. 
  • We do not sell or share information that individually identifies you outside of the Consortium and its affiliate companies unless work is being performed on our behalf and you have been given consent, or we have notified you through our privacy policies or other agreements that have with you. We may also share certain non-personally identifiable information with third parties. Federal law governs our use and sharing of Customer Proprietary Network Information. 




The Consortium does not currently conduct marketing campaigns. You have choices about how the Consortium reaches you with managing your account. The default notification is by cell phone. 

  • SMS Text Messages- Which stands for Short Message Service, which is the formal name for the technology used for cell phone text messaging. You can opt out of receive SMS texts by following the unsubscribe instructions included in texts you receive. SMS text is required for authenticating to your online account.  
  • Emails - opt out of receiving email updates about our services through your online account, profile settings.  
  • Postal mail - Is a method to contact you should you opt out of cell phone and email notifications. 


 We honor requests from customers for their own account information (such as name, address, or billing information). Please contact Customer Service by email at sharon@YKDTribalBroadband.org and we will correct any such information that may be inaccurate. 


We have a variety of safeguards in place to help protect your information against unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We provide methods for you to access, review and update your account information. If you become aware of a security issue, email us immediately at sharon@YKDTribalBroadband.org and we will work with you to address your concern.


We use technical, administrative and physical safeguards to help protect against unauthorized access to, use or disclosure of information we collect or store. In addition, we train our employees on the importance of privacy, security, and the proper ways to access, use and disclose customer information. Our practices and policies prohibit employees with whom we share this information from using sensitive information unless they are authorized to do so and have a business need. They also require us to keep personally identifiable information and other sensitive records only as long as reasonably necessary for business, accounting, tax or legal purposes.


Although we strive to keep information secure, we can’t guarantee that our safeguards will prevent every unauthorized attempt to access, use or disclose personal information. We use our security and incident response plans to handle such incidents. You can help secure your account using consumer advice from the FCC. 


 

The Consortium is concerned about the safety and privacy of all our users, particularly children. Minors cannot become Consortium internet subscribers, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13 without parental consent. If we learn we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13 without such consent, we will delete such information and notify the parents and/or guardians. 


Privacy laws in the U.S. vary by state. Alaska State maintains a website for consumer protection, including the Personal Information Protection Act. We may share personally identifiable information if it is required by law to comply with a valid legal process. We periodically update our privacy policy. If we change the way we use or disclose information that identifies you in a way that is materially different from what was stated in our privacy policy at the time the information was collected, you will be given an opportunity to update your choices about the new use or disclosure.
